Abstract
The invention relates to a method of screening for a compound useful in the treatment of a disease selected from neurodegenerative diseases and neuro-inflammatory diseases, said method comprising providing a test cell; staining at least one organelle of said test cell; contacting said test cell with a test compound; and recording the path of said stained organelle in said test cell. Suitable compounds are identified from a comparison of the recorded path with a suitable reference.
Claims14
A method of screening for a compound useful in the treatment of a disease selected from multiple sclerosis, neurodegenerative diseases and neuro-inflammatory diseases, said method comprising:
- (i) providing a test cell;
- (ii) staining at least one vesicle of said test cell;
- (iii) contacting said test cell with a test compound;
- (iv) recording the path of said stained vesicle in said test cell by obtaining multiple images of said stained vesicle in said test cell at distinct points in time;
- (v) determining a mobility parameter characterizing the mobility of said stained vesicle in said test cell from at least one measurement of a length L between two distinct positions on said recorded path, and
- (vi) comparing said mobility parameter obtained in step (v) with a reference mobility parameter,
- wherein the result of said comparison in step (vi) is taken as a measure for the likelihood that said test compound is useful in the treatment of said disease.
