Abstract
Provided herein are kits, compositions and methods for cancer diagnosis, research and therapy, including but not limited to, cancer markers. In particular, the present invention relates to recurrent gene fusions as diagnostic markers and clinical targets for hemangiopericytoma.
Claims20
A kit for detecting gene fusions associated with solitary fibrous tumor or hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC) in a subject, consisting essentially of:
- at least a first gene fusion informative reagent for identification of a NGFI-A binding protein 2-signal transducer and activator of transcription 6, interleukin-4 induced (NAB2-STAT6) gene fusion.
A method for diagnosing SFT/HPC in a subject, comprising:
- (a) contacting a biological sample from a subject with a nucleic acid or polypeptide detection assay comprising:
- at least a first gene fusion informative reagent for identification of a NAB2-STAT6 gene fusion, under conditions that the presence of a NAB2-STAT6 gene fusion is detected under conditions that the presence of a NGFI-A binding protein 2-signal transducer and activator of transcription 6, interleukin-4 induced (NAB2-STAT6) gene fusion is detected;
- and
- (b) diagnosing SFT/HPC in said subject when said NAB2-STAT6 gene fusion gene fusion is present in the sample.
