Abstract
A method and apparatus for performing Inter-User Equipment Transfer (IUT) across any internet protocol (IP) based network. This framework allows for preparation, execution and completion of data transfer at a target device through registration with a Local Mobility Anchor (LMA) and receipt of an IUT request. The target device receives and stores an IP address or a source device. The IP address is used to transmit session information.
Claims8
A network node for preparing data flow transfer of a communication session from a source WTRU, the network node comprising:
- a local mobility anchor (LMA) configured to transmit an Inter-User Equipment (UE) Transfer (IUT) request to a mobility access gateway (MAG);
- the MAG configured to update a first binding table upon receiving the first IUT request and further configured to transmit an IUT acknowledgement in response to the first IUT request;
- and
- the LMA configured to update a second binding table upon receiving the IUT acknowledgement from the MAG.
A method for preparing data flow transfer of a communication session to a target wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) from a source WTRU, the method comprising:
- transmitting an Inter-User Equipment (UE) Transfer (IUT) request from a local mobility anchor (LMA) to a mobility access gateway (MAG);
- updating a first binding table by the MAG upon receiving the first IUT request and transmitting an IUT acknowledgement by the MAG in response to the first IUT request;
- and
- updating a second binding table by the LMA upon receiving the IUT acknowledgement from the MAG.
