Method and apparatus for controlling a handover between utra r6 cells and r7 cells

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

• a radio resource control (RRC) unit;
• and
• a medium access control (MAC) unit, wherein the MAC unit configured to:
• receive, from the RRC unit, a RRC message for notifying the WTRU of a MAC reconfiguration occurring at a serving high speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) cell;
• perform a high speed medium access control (MAC-hs) reset on condition that (i) a new downlink (DL) MAC-hs reset indicator is included in the RRC message, and (ii) the RRC message includes an indication of enhanced MAC-hs (MAC-ehs) configuration;
• and
• perform a MAC-ehs reset on condition that (i) a DL MAC-hs reset indicator is included in the RRC message, and (ii) the RRC message includes an indication of MAC-hs configuration.

A method implemented in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

• receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message for notifying the WTRU of a medium access control (MAC) reconfiguration occurring at a serving high speed downlink shared channel (HS-DSCH) cell;
• performing a high speed medium access control (MAC-hs) reset on condition that (i) a downlink (DL) MAC-hs reset indicator is included in the RRC message, and (ii) the RRC message includes an indication of enhanced MAC-hs (MAC-ehs) configuration;
• and
• performing a MAC-ehs reset on condition that (i) a DL MAC-hs reset indicator is included in the RRC message, and (ii) the RRC message includes an indication of MAC-hs configuration.
