Abstract
The present invention generally relates to methods and systems for narrowing a wavelength emission of light. In certain aspects, methods of the invention involve transmitting light through a filter and passing a portion of the filtered light through a gain chip assembly at least two times before that portion of light passes again through the filter.
Claims13
A method of narrowing a wavelength emission of light, the method comprising:
- transmitting light through a filter;
- and
- passing a portion of the filtered light through a gain chip assembly at least two times before that portion of the filtered light passes again through the filter.
A system for narrowing a wavelength emission of light, the system comprising:
- a filter;
- a gain chip assembly comprising a gain medium, and
- a partially reflecting mirror;
- the system being configured such that light passes from the filter to the gain chip assembly and a portion of the light is reflected by the partial minor back through the gain chip assembly before the light passes again through the filter.
The system according to claim 10, wherein the filter is a tunable filter.
The system of claim 11, wherein the filter is a voltage-controlled optical attenuator.
The system of claim 12, wherein the gain medium is a semiconductor.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
