Abstract
A removable gas separation cartridge includes a housing having an inlet port, an outlet port, and a bed of adsorbent material. The cartridge is removable from an oxygen concentrator which separates oxygen from ambient air by using an absorption process.
Claims20
A gas separation cartridge for use in an oxygen concentrator which separates oxygen from ambient air by using an absorption process, the gas separation cartridge comprising:
- at least one column in a housing, the at least one column including an inlet side, an outlet side, and a bed of adsorbent material;
- an inlet port in the housing configured to connect to a valve;
- and
- an outlet port in the housing configured to connect to the valve.
A portable oxygen concentrator comprising:
- an outer housing;
- a plurality of gas separation columns at least partially covered by the outer housing, each gas separation column having a casing containing an adsorbent material that preferentially adsorbs nitrogen, a first end, and a second end;
- a plurality of inlet ports in the outer housing, each inlet port connect to the first end of one of the columns;
- and
- a plurality of outlet ports in the outer housing, each outlet port connected to the second end of one of the columns.
A removable gas separation cartridge for use in an oxygen concentrator, the gas separation cartridge comprising:
- an adsorbent column having a bed of adsorbent material;
- a housing for containing the adsorbent column;
- a cap attached to the housing;
- wherein the housing and cap are configured to be removable from the oxygen concentrator;
- a first port in the housing;
- and
- a second port in the cap.
