Abstract
A method of coating seeds is provided using observations of coating and coated seeds to modify the coating of yet-to-be coated seeds.

An automated method of coating seeds is provided, the method include the steps of
- providing a plurality of seeds, coating, and controller,
- applying the coating to at least one of the seeds of the plurality of seeds through control by the controller in a first manner,
- observing a characteristic of the at least one seed to which the coating is applied, and
- applying the coating to at least one the seeds in of the plurality of seeds through control by the controller in a second manner that is different that the first manner based on the observed characteristic of the seed.

An automated method of coating seeds is provided, the method include the steps of
- providing a plurality of seeds, coating, and controller,
- observing a characteristic of the coating,
- adjusting the ingredient content of the coating based on the observed characteristic,
- applying the coating to the plurality of seeds.

- observing an ambient condition, and
- applying the coating to at least one the seeds in of the plurality of seeds through control by the controller using the observed ambient condition.
A package of seeds comprising
- a container having an interior volume, and
- a plurality of coated seeds positioned in the interior volume of the container, the plurality of coated seeds including a plurality of seeds and irradiated coating material coating the plurality of seeds.
