Abstract
Aspects of the present invention relate to a shoe upper that is formed as a substantially planar article with varied functional zones and integrated lockout assemblies included therein. The lockout assemblies may be inserted into a cavity formed in a multi-layer woven article allowing for a filler material, such as spacer mesh, to be included in the cavity and providing a material through which one or more lockout strands extend.
Claims21
A shoe construction comprising:
- a sole;
- a woven upper, the woven upper comprising:
- a) a multi-layer woven portion having a first layer and a second layer forming an internal cavity;
- b) a reinforcement portion on the first layer, the reinforcement portion forming an aperture through the first layer;
- and
- a lockout strand, the lockout strand extending through the internal cavity of the multi-layer portion and the lockout strand extending through the first layer proximate the aperture of the reinforcement portion.
3 more elements
A shoe construction comprising:
- a woven upper comprised of a medial side portion and a lateral side portion;
- the medial side portion is comprised of an integrally woven multi-layer portion forming a medial side internal cavity;
- the lateral side portion is comprised of an integrally woven multi-layer portion forming a lateral side internal cavity;
- a plurality of medial apertures extending through an exterior layer of the medial multi-layer portion, wherein the plurality of medial apertures are proximate a forefoot opening;
- a plurality of lateral aperture extending though an exterior layer of the lateral multi-layer portion, wherein the plurality of lateral apertures are proximate the forefoot opening;
- a plurality of medial lockout strands traversing the medial side internal cavity and extending through the plurality of medial apertures to an exterior of the woven upper;
- and
- a plurality of lateral lockout strands traversing the lateral side internal cavity and extending through the plurality of lateral apertures to the exterior of the woven upper.
5 more elements
A shoe construction comprising:
- a sole;
- and
- an upper, the upper comprising:
- (1) a medial side portion, the medial side portion comprised of:
- a) an integrally woven multi-layer portion extending from a forefoot opening towards the sole, the multi-layer portion comprised of an exterior layer and an interior layer forming a medial internal cavity;
- b) a first aperture extending through the exterior layer of the medial multi-layer portion;
- (2) a lateral side portion, the lateral side portion comprised of:
- a) an integrally woven multi-layer portion extending from the forefoot opening towards the sole, the multi-layer portion comprised of an exterior layer and an interior layer forming a lateral internal cavity;
- b) a second aperture extending through the exterior layer of the lateral multi-layer portion;
- (3) a medial lockout strand having a first end, an apex, and a second end, the first end coupled with the medial side portion proximate the sole, the medial lockout strand extending upwardly from the first end through the medial internal cavity and the first aperture to the apex, the medial lockout strand extending from the apex through the medial internal cavity to the second end, the second end coupled with the medial side portion proximate the sole;
- and
- (4) a lateral lockout strand having a first end, an apex, and a second end, the first end coupled with the lateral side portion proximate the sole, the lateral lockout strand extending upwardly from the first end through the lateral internal cavity and the second aperture to the apex, the lateral lockout strand extending from the apex through the lateral internal cavity to the second end, the second end coupled with the lateral side portion proximate the sole.
