Abstract
The present invention relates to free-form structures made by additive manufacturing, and methods for the manufacture thereof. The rigid free-form structures comprise a lattice structure which is impregnated by a polymeric or other material. The rigid free-form structures may be used in wound treatment, e.g. as a facial mask.
Claims17
A free-form structure fitting the surface of a body part, at least partially made by additive manufacturing, comprising a basic structure comprising or consisting of a rigid free-form lattice structure and a coating material provided thereon selected from the group comprising a polymeric material, a ceramic material and a metal.
Method for manufacturing a free-form structure comprising the steps of:
- a) providing a three dimensional representation of a body part of a subject;
- b) designing a basic structure comprising a rigid free-form lattice structure based on said three dimensional representation of said subject;
- c) manufacturing said designed basic structure by additive manufacturing;
- and;
- optionally
- d) providing said basic structure with a coating material.
