## Abstract

Custom Metametadata with Packagable Records.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for providing custom metadata in a multi-tenant database environment in which hardware and software of the multi-tenant database system is shared by one or more organizations, each having one or more corresponding users, the method comprising:
triggering, in response to a trigger event determined by a standard platform interface, activating procedural code to query metadata provided by an organization through a metadata interface provided by a platform developer, wherein the standard platform interface is provided by a platform developer; and
writing to data owned by the organization with the procedural code, in response to results of the query.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the procedural code is provided by a platform developer.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the trigger event comprises receiving user input.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the trigger event comprises insertion of data.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the procedural code comprises a portion of a time-based workflow.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein the procedural code comprises an inbound service call.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1 wherein writing the data comprises one or more of a user interface (UI) modification, a message trigger, and a message integration.

### Claim 8

A article of manufacture comprising a non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions to cause one or more processors to provide custom metadata in a multi-tenant database environment in which hardware and software of the multi-tenant database system is shared by one or more organizations, each having one or more corresponding users, the instructions to:
trigger, in response to a trigger event determined by a standard platform interface, activating procedural code to query metadata provided by an organization through a metadata interface provided by a platform developer, wherein the standard platform interface is provided by a platform developer; and
write to data owned by the organization with the procedural code, in response to results of the query.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The article of claim 8 wherein the procedural code is provided by a platform developer.

### Claim 10 (depends on 8)

The article of claim 8 wherein the trigger event comprises receiving user input.

### Claim 11 (depends on 8)

The article of claim 8 wherein the trigger event comprises insertion of data.

### Claim 12 (depends on 8)

The article of claim 8 wherein the procedural code comprises a portion of a time-based workflow.

### Claim 13 (depends on 8)

The article of claim 8 wherein the procedural code comprises an inbound service call.

### Claim 14 (depends on 8)

The article of claim 8 wherein writing the data comprises one or more of a user interface (UI) modification, a message trigger, and a message integration.

### Claim 15

A system comprising one or more computing devices to provide a multi-tenant database environment in which hardware and software of the multi-tenant database system is shared by one or more organizations, each having one or more corresponding users, the system to trigger, in response to a trigger event determined by a standard platform interface, activating procedural code to query metadata provided by an organization through a metadata interface provided by a platform developer, wherein the standard platform interface is provided by a platform developer, and to write to data owned by the organization with the procedural code, in response to results of the query.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15 wherein the procedural code is provided by a platform developer.

### Claim 17 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15 wherein the trigger event comprises receiving user input.

### Claim 18 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15 wherein the trigger event comprises insertion of data.

### Claim 19 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15 wherein the procedural code comprises a portion of a time-based workflow.

### Claim 20 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15 wherein the procedural code comprises an inbound service call.

### Claim 21 (depends on 15)

The system of claim 15 wherein writing the data comprises one or more of a user interface (UI) modification, a message trigger, and a message integration.
