## Abstract

A system for managing and presenting geolocation data. The system includes a plurality of electronic devices and a server in data communication with a plurality of electronic devices. The server has a processor that is configured to receive requests from an electronic device for a map including a feature of interest and the feature having associated location information therewith. The location information is indicative of a geographic location of the feature and comprises information indicative of a precision of the geographic location. The processor provides a precise icon and an imprecise icon for representing a feature on a map, each having a constant size. The processor is also configured to determine whether to use the precise icon or the imprecise icon to represent the feature on the map based upon information indicative of a scale of the map and the precision of the location information associated with the feature. The processor generates the map including the feature being represented by the precise icon or the imprecise icon.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system for managing and presenting geolocation data, the system comprising:
(a) A plurality of electronic devices;
(b) A server in data communication with the plurality of electronic devices, the server having at least one processor, the processor being configured to:
(i) receive at least one request from one of the electronic devices for at least one map including at least one feature of interest, the at least one feature having associated location information therewith, the location information being indicative of a geographic location of the at least one feature and comprising information indicative of a precision of the geographic location;
(ii) provide a precise icon and an imprecise icon for representing the at least one feature on the at least one map, the precise icon and the imprecise icon each having a constant size;
(iii) determine whether to use the precise icon or the imprecise icon to represent the at least one feature on the at least one map based upon information indicative of a scale of the at least one map and the precision of the location information associated with the at least one feature; and
(iv) generate the at least one map including the at least one feature being represented by the precise icon or the imprecise icon.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are similar in size.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are differentiated by shape.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The system of claim 2, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are differentiated by shape

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are not differentiated by color.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The system of claim 2, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are not differentiated by color.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are not differentiated by color.

### Claim 8 (depends on 4)

The system of claim 4, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are not differentiated by color.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are not differentiated by fill pattern.

### Claim 10 (depends on 2)

The system of claim 2, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are not differentiated by fill pattern.

### Claim 11 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are not differentiated by fill pattern.

### Claim 12

A method for managing and presenting geolocation data, the method comprising:
(a) receiving at least one request from one of the electronic devices for at least one map including at least one feature of interest, the at least one feature having associated location information therewith, the location information being indicative of a geographic location of the at least one feature and comprising information indicative of a precision of the geographic location;
(b) providing a precise icon and an imprecise icon for representing the at least one feature on the at least one map, the precise icon and the imprecise icon having a constant size;
(c) determining whether to use the precise icon or the imprecise icon to represent the at least one feature on the at least one map based upon information indicative of a scale of the at least one map and the precision-level of the location information associated with the at least one feature; and
(d) generating the at least one map including the at least one feature being represented by the precise icon or the imprecise icon.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are similar in size.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the precise icon and imprecise icon are differentiated by shape.
