## Abstract

There is provided herein methods, apparatus and systems for evaluating carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration in a subject's breath, for example in subjects ventilated with High Frequency Ventilation (HFV), the method includes inserting to a trachea of a subject an endotrachial tube (ETT), sampling breath from an area in the trachea located in proximity to a distal end of the endotrachial tube (ETT) and evaluating one or more CO2 related parameters of the sampled breath.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) comprising a main endotracheal tube and a second endotracheal tube, wherein a distal opening of the second endotracheal tube is located inside the main endotracheal tube and proximal to a distal opening thereof.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) of claim 1, wherein the second endotracheal tube is located essentially inside the lumen of the main endotracheal tube.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) of claim 2, wherein the second endotracheal tube is located essentially inside an inner wall of the main endotracheal tube.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) of claim 1, wherein the second endotracheal tube is located outside the main endotracheal tube.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) of claim 1, wherein the second endotracheal tube has a diameter smaller than the diameter of the main endotracheal tube.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) of claim 1, for use with children, infants and/or neonates.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) of claim 1, being an uncuffed endotracheal tube (ETT).

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) of claim 1, configured to sample breath from a distal area of a trachea of a subject.

### Claim 9

A breath sampling system comprising:
a double lumen endotracheal tube (ETT) comprising a main endotracheal tube and a second endotracheal tube, wherein a distal opening of the second endotracheal tube is located inside the main endotracheal tube and proximal to a distal opening thereof; and
an airway adapter.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The system of claim 9, further comprising a first sampling line configured to be connected to said second endotracheal tube and to receive breath samples therefrom; and a second sampling line configured to be connected to said airway adapter and to sample breath therefrom.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The system of claim 10, further comprising a stop-cock configured to switch between sampling from said first sampling line and from said second sampling line.
