## Abstract

An artificial turf surface comprised of natural looking fibrous materials can be infilled with small beads of black crumb rubber coated with heat reflecting material. These beads can also be engineered to have a variable spring force and can also be coated with titanium dioxide powder to have an anti-bacterial effect and laumontite to bind lead. Turf blades can also be coated to increase solar reflection.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A solar reflecting artificial turf with an adjustable spring force comprising: artificial turf material with infill material, said infill material comprising beads made of coated black crumb rubber (BCR), said BCR being coated with a solar reflective material and a spring force control material.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The solar reflecting artificial turf of claim 1 wherein said beads are also coated with an anti-microbial material.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The solar reflecting artificial turf of claim 1 wherein said solar reflective materials are titanium dioxide and zeolyte or diatomaceous earth.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The solar reflecting artificial turf of claim 1 wherein said solar reflective material is a mixed metal oxide.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The solar reflecting artificial turf of claim 1 wherein said spring force control material is zeolyte or diatomaceous earth.

### Claim 6 (depends on 2)

The solar reflecting artificial turf of claim 2 wherein said anti-microbial material is titanium dioxide.

### Claim 7

A process for making infill for artificial turf comprising creating infill beads by:
coating black crumb rubber balls with titanium dioxide, mixed metal oxides and diatomaceous earth in a latex base.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The process of claim 7 further comprising additionally coating said beads with laumontite.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The process of claim 7 further comprising additionally coating said beads with laumontite and titanium dioxide powder.
