## Abstract

A cover material for a bulk material pile and method for applying the cover material are disclosed. The cover composition is free of fiber, clay, cement and pozzolanic material and comprises: 95 to 99.75 percent by weight water, 0.25 to 5 percent by weight of a water dispersible cellulosic polymer; and sufficient acid to maintain the pH of the solution between 1.0 and 6.0.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of providing a cover to a bulk material pile, the method comprising:
a. providing a cover composition free of fiber, clay, cement and pozzolanic material, said composition comprising:
95 to 99.75 percent by weight water
0.25 to 5 percent by weight of a water dispersible cellulosic polymer; and
sufficient acid to maintain the pH of the solution between 1.0 and 6.0;
b. applying the cover composition onto the bulk material pile; and
c. allowing the composition to harden to provide a cover to at least a portion of the bulk material pile.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A method according to claim 1 wherein said cover composition consists essentially of:
95 to 99.75 percent by weight water
0.25 to 5 percent by weight of a water dispersible cellulosic polymer; and
sufficient acid to maintain the pH of the solution between 1.0 and 6.0.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A method according to claim 1 wherein said cover composition consists essentially of:
95 to 99.75 percent by weight water
0.25 to 5 percent by weight of a water dispersible cellulosic polymer;
sufficient acid to maintain the pH of the solution between 1.0 and 6.0; and
a coloring agent.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the acid comprises at least one of citric acid and acetic acid.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the acid comprises 0.01 to 0.1 percent by weight of total composition.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method according to claim 5, wherein the acid comprises 0.02 to 0.06 percent by weight of total composition.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the cellulosic water dispersible polymer comprises at least one of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) and hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC).

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method according to claim 1, wherein the polymer comprises 1.0 to 2.0 weight percent of the total composition.
