chemical aspects of, or use of materials for deodorisation of air, for disinfection or sterilisation, or for bandages, dressings, absorbent pads or surgical articles A61L; soap compositions C11D) - A61Q: SPECIFIC USE OF COSMETICS OR SIMILAR TOILETRY PREPARATIONS ## Abstract A cosmetic composition comprising at least one volatile solvent, at least one crosslinked silicone film former, at least one silicone gum, and at least one pigment composition present in an amount sufficient to provide the cosmetic composition with a pigment contrast ratio of greater than 35 and a method for maximizing the intensity and opacity of a color cosmetic composition. ## Claims ### Claim 1 A cosmetic composition comprising at least one volatile solvent selected from the group consisting of isododecane, isohexadecane, hexamethyl disiloxane, octamethyl trisiloxane, decamethyltetrasiloxane, dodecamethylpentasiloxane and mixtures thereof; at least one crosslinked silicone film former which is selected from the group consisting of trimethyl siloxysilicate, dimethicone silylate and mixtures thereof, at least one silicone gum, and at least one pigment complex comprised of carbon black, a polyester selected from the group consisting of Polyester-1. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and mixtures thereof; a film forming polymer that is a C1-20 alkyl ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid; and a non-ionic organic surfactant that is an alkoxylated fatty alcohol having from 2-300 repeating oxyethylene units and at least one D&C or FD&C blue pigment or Lake thereof in a ratio of 1 to 20 parts pigment complex to 1 part D&C or FD&C blue pigment or Lake thereof, cosmetic composition with a pigment contrast ratio of greater than 35. ### Claim 2 (depends on 1) The cosmetic composition of claim 1 having a pigment contrast ratio ranging from about 35 to 80. ### Claim 3 (depends on 1) The cosmetic composition of claim 1 having a pigment contrast ratio ranging from 40 to 75. ### Claim 4 (depends on 1) The composition of claim 1 wherein the volatile solvent comprises isododecane. ### Claim 5 (depends on 1) The cosmetic composition of claim 1 wherein the pigment complex the Polyester is Polyester-5. ### Claim 6 (depends on 1) The cosmetic composition of claim 1 wherein the nonionic organic surfactant is selected from Laureth, Steareth, Ceteth, Ceteareth, Beheneth, Isosteareth, with the number of repeating oxyethylene units ranging from 2 to 300. ### Claim 7 (depends on 1) The cosmetic composition of claim 1 wherein the pigment complex and the at least one D&C or FD&C color are the only pigments present in the composition. ### Claim 8 (depends on 4) The cosmetic composition of claim 4 wherein the polyester is Polyester-5 or mixtures thereof. ### Claim 9 (depends on 6) The cosmetic composition of claim 6 wherein the polyester comprises Polyester 5 and the film forming polymer comprises a C1-20 alkyl ester of acrylic acid. ### Claim 10 (depends on 6) The cosmetic composition of claim 6 wherein the pigment complex comprises carbon black; a polyester selected from Polyester-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, or mixtures thereof; a film forming polymer comprising a C1-20 alkyl ester of acrylic acid; and a non-ionic organic surfactant comprising an alkoxylated fatty alcohol which is Laureth having 2-300 repeating oxyethylene units. ### Claim 11 (depends on 10) The cosmetic composition of claim 10 wherein the pigment complex comprises carbon black, Polyester-5, and Laureth-4. ### Claim 12 (depends on 11) The cosmetic composition of claim 11 wherein the pigment complex comprises 1-80 parts carbon black; from 1-50 parts Polyester-5; from 1-40 parts film forming polymer; and from 1-20 parts Laureth-4. ### Claim 13 (depends on 4) The cosmetic composition of claim 4 wherein the pigment complex comprises a mixture of carbon black and D&C blue or Lake thereof in an amount ranging from 1 part D&C Blue or Lake thereof to 1 part carbon black to 1 part D&C Blue or Lake thereof to 20 parts carbon black. ### Claim 14 (depends on 13) The cosmetic composition of claim 13 wherein the pigment composition is the only pigmented material present in the cosmetic composition. ### Claim 15 (depends on 1) The cosmetic composition of claim 1 wherein the volatile solvent comprises a mixture of isododecane and a volatile silicone selected from the group consisting of octamethyltrisiloxane, decamethyltetrasiloxane, dodecamethylpentasiloxane, and mixtures thereof. ### Claim 16 (depends on 1) The cosmetic composition of claim 1 wherein the volatile solvent comprises a mixture of isododecane and one or more silicones selected from hexamethyldisiloxane, octamethyltrisiloxane, or decamethyltetrasiloxane. ### Claim 17 (depends on 1) The cosmetic composition of claim 1 wherein the crosslinked silicone film former is dimethicone silylate. ### Claim 18 (depends on 1) The composition of claim 1 wherein the crosslinked silicone film former is a silicone resin which is trimethylsiloxysilicate. ### Claim 19 (depends on 1) The composition of claim 1 wherein the opacity and color intensity of the cosmetic composition is maximized when the pigment composition comprises carbon black and at least one D&C or FD&C Blue organic pigment or Lake thereof in an amount sufficient to provide the color cosmetic composition with a pigment contrast ratio greater than 35. ### Claim 20 (depends on 19) The composition of claim 19 wherein the pigment contrast ratio of the color cosmetic composition ranges from 35 to 80.
