and a display control unit configured to control displaying a list of thumbnail images, the thumbnail images corresponding to chapters, the each of chapters corresponding to a plurality of image data, and displaying an icon superposed on the thumbnail images, on a display, wherein a first thumbnail image of the thumbnail images corresponding to one chapter of the chapters is displayed with the icon superposed thereon, when any image data of the plurality of image data of the one chapter is stopped from being reproduced based on user operation. ### Claim 3 (depends on 2) The information processing apparatus according to claim 2 further comprising: a receiving unit configured to receive a user operation indicating stop of reproducing of the image data. ### Claim 4 (depends on 3) The information processing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the operation is carried out using a remote controller. ### Claim 5 (depends on 2) The information processing apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the image data is reproduced from the position where the reproducing of the image data is stopped when the icon is superposed on the first thumbnail image and an operation for start reproducing the image data is carried out by the user when the image data is not being reproduced. ### Claim 6 (depends on 2) The information processing apparatus according to claim 2, wherein a type of the image data is one of moving image, still image, and play list, the play list being used for selecting moving images or still images and for playing back the selected images in a predetermined order, wherein the storage control unit controls a storage process so that, when the image data is being reproduced, the type of the image data is stored when a user carries out an operation for stopping the image data from being reproduced. ### Claim 7 (depends on 6) The information processing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the display control unit controls display of a screen so that a screen displaying a list of predetermined thumbnail images with each of the types of image data is displayed. ### Claim 8 (depends on 2) The information processing apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the image data is reproduced from the beginning when an icon is not superposed on any of the thumbnail images and a determination is an operation for start reproducing of the image data is carried out by a user. ### Claim 9 A method for reproducing image data with an information processing apparatus, the method comprising: retrieving image data and position information which indicates a position where reproducing the image data is stopped; and controlling display of a list of thumbnail images, the thumbnail images corresponding to chapters, the each of chapters corresponding to a plurality of image data, and displaying an icon superposed on the thumbnail images, on a display, wherein a first thumbnail image of the thumbnail image corresponding to one chapter of the chapters is displayed with the icon superposed thereon, when any image data of the plurality of image data of the one chapter is stopped from being reproduced based on user operation. ### Claim 10 A system for reproducing image data, comprising: a reproducing apparatus loaded with a data recording medium including image data and operable to execute instructions; and instructions for reproducing the image data, the instructions including: retrieving image data and position information which indicates a position where reproducing the image data is stopped; and controlling display of a list of thumbnail images, the thumbnail images corresponding to chapters, the each of chapters corresponding to a plurality of image data, and displaying an icon superposed on the thumbnail images, on a display, wherein a first thumbnail image of the thumbnail images corresponding to one chapter of the chapters is displayed with the icon superposed thereon, when any image data of the plurality of image data of the one chapter is stopped from being reproduced based on user operation. ### Claim 11 A non-transitory recording medium recorded with a computer-readable program for execution by a processor, the program comprising: retrieving image data and position information which indicates a position where reproducing the image data is stopped; and controlling display of a list of thumbnail images, the thumbnail images corresponding to chapters, the each of chapters corresponding to a plurality of image data, and displaying an icon superposed on the thumbnail images, on a display, wherein a first thumbnail image of the thumbnail images corresponding to one chapter of the chapters is displayed with the icon superposed thereon, when any image data of the plurality of image data of the one chapter is stopped from being reproduced based on user operation. ### Claim 12 An information processing apparatus comprising: a display control unit configured to control displaying a list of thumbnail images, the thumbnail images corresponding to a group of a plurality of image data, and displaying an icon superposed on the thumbnail images, on a display, wherein a first thumbnail image of the thumbnail images is displayed with the icon, the first thumbnail image corresponding to one group of the plurality of image data which is stopped from being reproduced based on user operation.
