- G06T: IMAGE DATA PROCESSING OR GENERATION, IN GENERAL

## Abstract

Systems and methods for processing data representative of a full color image. Such systems may comprise the steps of assisting a color blind person to indicate portions of an image which to their color-deficient vision are indistinguishable, and altering the image to cause those portions to become distinguishable and identifiable.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for processing a color image for assisting a color blind user, comprising
receiving, at a processor, an image having one or more colors,
selecting, by the processor, a color from the image, the color having one or more hue components,
analyzing, by the processor, the color to determine the one or more hue components,
adding, by the processor, a pattern to the color, wherein the pattern is uniquely determined based on the one or more hue components of the color, and
applying, by the processor, the pattern to portions of the image having the color, whereby the pattern is distinguishable to the user.

### Claim 2

(canceled)

### Claim 3

(canceled)

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the color has a saturation value and the pattern has a selected density, and the selected density corresponds to the saturation value.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the pattern includes a first set of stripes placed at a first angle.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein the first set of stripes includes a white stripe, a black stripe, and a transparent stripe.

### Claim 7

(canceled)

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein the first angle is determined based on a first one of the hue components.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The method of claim 8, wherein the first angle is unique to the first one of the hue components.

### Claim 10 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein the first set of stripes includes stripes that are at least one of solid lines, dashed lines, dotted lines, and wavy lines.

### Claim 11

(canceled)

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein
the hue components include a first hue component and a second hue component,
the first and second hue components are associated with a first set of stripes and a second set of stripes, respectively,
the first and second sets of stripes are disposed at first and second angles, and
the pattern added to the color includes a cross-hatching of the first and second sets of stripes.

### Claim 13

(canceled)

### Claim 14

A system configured to process a color image for assisting a color blind user, comprising
a data memory having stored therein a color space defined by one or more colors associated with the image, and data representative of the colors,
a first processor to select a first color from the image, the first color having one or more hue components,
a second processor to analyze the first color to determine the one or more hue components,
a third processor to modify the data representative of the first color by adding a pattern to the first color, wherein the pattern is uniquely determined based on the one or more hue components of the first color, and
a fourth processor to apply the pattern to portions of the image having the color, whereby the pattern is distinguishable to the user.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The system of claim 14, wherein the first color is visible through the pattern.

### Claim 16

(canceled)

### Claim 17

(canceled)

### Claim 18 (depends on 14)

The system of claim 14, wherein the pattern includes a first set of stripes placed at a first angle.

### Claim 19

(canceled)

### Claim 20

(canceled)

### Claim 21 (depends on 18)

The system of claim 18, wherein the first angle is determined based a first one of the hue components.

### Claim 22

(canceled)

### Claim 23

(canceled)

### Claim 24

(canceled)

### Claim 25

(canceled)

### Claim 26

(canceled)

### Claim 27 (depends on 14)

The system of claim 14, wherein at least one of the data memory, the first processor, the second processor, the third processor, and the fourth processor are disposed in an embedded system having a camera.

### Claim 28

(canceled)

### Claim 29

A method for processing a color image on a mobile device for assisting a color blind user, the mobile device having a processor, a camera, and a screen, comprising:
receiving an image at the processor, from the camera, the image having one or more colors;
receiving, at the processor, an input command to process the received image;
selecting, by the processor, a color from the image, the color having one or more hue components;
analyzing, by the processor, the color to determine the one or more hue components;
adding, by the processor, a pattern to the color, wherein the pattern is uniquely determined based on the one or more hue components of the color,
applying, by the processor, the pattern to portions of the image having the color to create a processed image, whereby the pattern is distinguishable to the color blind user; and
displaying the processed image on the screen to the color blind user.

### Claim 30 (depends on 29)

The method of claim 29, wherein the input command to process the received image is received from the color blind user via a user input device.

### Claim 31

(canceled)

### Claim 32 (depends on 29)

The method of claim 29, comprising:
initiating, by the processor, a color blindness test to determine type of color blindness of the color blind user,
receiving input, at the processor, from the color blind user,
determining, by the processor, the type of color blindness of the color blind user based on the received input, and
generating, by the processor, the input command to process the received image.

### Claim 33
