## Abstract

To provide a glass ceramic body, whereby light which transmits through the substrate and leaks (i.e. emits) out of the incident direction is reduced, and the number of voids at the surface of the substrate and in the inside of the substrate is low, A glass ceramic body 10 comprising a glass matrix 11 and flat fillers 12 dispersed therein, wherein the flat fillers 12 are dispersed in the glass matrix 11 so that their individual thickness directions would be substantially in the same direction; and in a cross-section along the thickness direction of the flat filler 12 in the glass matrix 11, the occupation area of the flat fillers 12 having a length in their flat direction of from 0.5 to 20 μm and a length in their thickness direction of from 0.02 to 0.25 μm per unit area of the cross-section is from 30 to 48%.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A glass ceramic body comprising a glass matrix and flat fillers dispersed therein, wherein the flat fillers are dispersed in the glass matrix so that their individual thickness directions would be substantially in the same direction; and in a cross-section along the thickness direction of the flat fillers in the glass matrix, the occupation area of the flat fillers having a length in their flat direction of from 0.5 to 20 μm and a length in their thickness direction of from 0.02 to 0.25 μm per unit area of the cross-section is from 30 to 48%.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The glass ceramic body according to claim 1, wherein the glass matrix is not crystallized.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The glass ceramic body according to claim 1, wherein in the occupation area of the flat fillers, the occupation area of the flat fillers having an average cross-sectional aspect ratio of at least 25 is from 30 to 48%.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The glass ceramic body according to claim 1, wherein in the occupation area of the flat fillers, the occupation area of the flat fillers having an average cross-sectional aspect ratio of from 25 to 80 is from 30 to 48%.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The glass ceramic body according to claim 1, wherein the flat fillers are made of at least one member selected from the group consisting of alumina, mica, silica and boron nitride.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The glass ceramic body according to claim 1, wherein when the glass ceramic body is formed into a flat plate having a thickness of 300 μm, the flat plate has a reflectance of at least 83% at a wavelength of 460 nm.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The glass ceramic body according to claim 1, which has a flexural strength of at least 180 MPa.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The glass ceramic body according to claim 1, which is made of SiO2—B2O3 glass containing from 15 to 40 mol % of CaO as represented by oxides base.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The glass ceramic body according to claim 1, which contains ZrO2 particles and wherein when the glass ceramic body is formed into a flat plate having a thickness of 300 μm, the flat plate has a reflectance of at least 90% at a wavelength of 460 nm and a flexural strength of at least 180 MPa.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

A substrate for mounting a light emitting element, on which a light emitting element is to be mounted and which comprises the glass ceramic body as defined in claim 1.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

A light emitting device comprising the substrate for mounting a light emitting element as defined in claim 10 and a light emitting element mounted on the substrate for mounting a light emitting element.
