## Abstract

An image processing apparatus comprises a first detecting unit configured to detect an object, a power control unit configured to shift the image processing apparatus from a second power state to a first power state which consumes more power than the second power state when the first detecting unit detects an object, and a second detecting unit configured to detect a sheet ejected to a sheet ejecting unit. The power control unit does not shift the image processing apparatus to the first power state when the second detecting unit no longer detects the sheet before a lapse of a predetermined period of time after the first detecting unit detects an object. The power control unit shifts the image processing apparatus to the first power state when the second detecting unit detects the sheet before a lapse of the predetermined period of time after the first detecting unit detects an object.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An image processing apparatus being capable of operating in at least a first power state and a second power state which consumes less power than the first power state, the image processing apparatus comprising:
a first detecting unit configured to detect an object;
a power control unit configured to shift the image processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state in a case where the first detecting unit detects an object; and
a second detecting unit configured to detect a sheet ejected to a sheet ejecting unit in the image processing apparatus, wherein
the power control unit configured not to shift the image processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state in a case where the second detecting unit no longer detects the sheet ejected to the sheet ejecting unit during a lapse of a predetermined period of time starting from the first detecting unit detecting an object, and configured to shift the image processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state in a case where the second detecting unit detects the sheet ejected to the sheet ejecting unit during a lapse of the predetermined period of time starting from the first detecting unit detecting an object.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the power control unit configured not to shift the image processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state in a case where the first detecting unit no longer detects an object before the lapse of a predetermined period of time.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising;
a third detecting unit configured to detect an object; wherein the first detecting unit is allowed to detect an object in a case where the third detecting unit detects an object.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The image processing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein, after the third detecting unit detects the object, if the second detecting unit detects a change in the ejection state, then the image processing apparatus is not shifted from the second power state to the first power state; after the third detecting unit detects the object, if the second detecting unit detects no change in the ejection state, then the first detecting unit is allowed to detect an object.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The image processing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the image processing apparatus is further capable of operating in a third power state which consumes less power than the second power state;
the third detecting unit is supplied power in the third power state; and
the first detecting unit is supplied power in the second power state.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The image processing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the second detecting unit is supplied power in the second power state.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a fourth detecting unit configured to detect a human's hand acquiring a sheet ejected to the sheet ejecting unit, wherein the power control unit configured not to shift the image processing apparatus from the second power state to the first power state in a case where the fourth detecting unit detects a human's hand before the lapse of a predetermined period of time.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The image processing apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the fourth detecting unit is supplied power in a case where the second detecting unit detects a sheet.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the sheet ejecting unit is an internal sheet ejecting unit.

### Claim 10

A control method for an image processing apparatus being capable of operating in at least a first power state and a second power state which consumes less power than the first power state, the control method comprising:
detecting an object approaching to the image processing apparatus;
detecting a sheet ejected to a sheet ejecting unit;
controlling a power state of the image processing apparatus to shift from the second power state to the first power state in a case where the sheet ejected to the sheet ejecting unit is detected during a lapse of a predetermined period of time starting from an object approaching to the image processing apparatus being detected wherein a power state of the image processing apparatus is kept in the second power state in a case where the sheet ejected to the sheet ejecting unit is no longer detected before a lapse of the predetermined period of time after an object approaching to the image processing apparatus is detected.
