## Abstract

An apparatus, a method, and a computer program product are provided. The apparatus generates at least one signal in response to a contactless gesture performed proximate to an infrared proximity sensor situated on the optical device, the contactless gesture corresponding to a command, identifies the command using the at least one signal, and executes the command.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of controlling an optical device configured to display content, the method comprising:
generating at least one signal in response to a contactless gesture performed proximate to an infrared proximity sensor situated on the optical device, the contactless gesture corresponding to a command;
identifying the command using the at least one signal; and
executing the command.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the infrared proximity sensor is situated between at least first and second infrared light emitting diodes (IR LEDs).

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the contactless gesture is at least one of a left swipe, a right swipe, an upward swipe, a downward swipe, a front tap, a rear tap, and a center tap.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein executing the command comprises performing a function for controlling at least one of the content and a graphical user interface (GUI).

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the content is one of augmented reality information, an electronic book (e-book), or a movie.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the contactless gesture is performed at a front portion of the optical device or a side portion of the optical device.

### Claim 7

An apparatus for controlling an optical device configured to display content, the apparatus comprising:
means for generating at least one signal in response to a contactless gesture performed proximate to an infrared proximity sensor situated on the optical device, the contactless gesture corresponding to a command;
means for identifying the command using the at least one signal; and
means for executing the command.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the infrared proximity sensor is situated between at least first and second infrared light emitting diodes (IR LEDs).

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the contactless gesture is at least one of a left swipe, a right swipe, an upward swipe, a downward swipe, a front tap, a rear tap, and a center tap.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the means for executing the command is configured to perform a function for controlling at least one of the content and a graphical user interface (GUI).

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the content is one of augmented reality information, an electronic book (e-book), or a movie.

### Claim 12 (depends on 7)

The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the contactless gesture is performed at a front portion of the optical device or a side portion of the optical device.

### Claim 13

An apparatus for controlling an optical device configured to display content, the apparatus comprising:
a processing system configured to:
generate at least one signal in response to a contactless gesture performed proximate to an infrared proximity sensor situated on the optical device, the contactless gesture corresponding to a command;
identify the command using the at least one signal; and
execute the command.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the infrared proximity sensor is situated between at least first and second infrared light emitting diodes (IR LEDs).

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the contactless gesture is at least one of a left swipe, a right swipe, an upward swipe, a downward swipe, a front tap, a rear tap, and a center tap.

### Claim 16 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the processing system is configured to execute the command by performing a function for controlling at least one of the content and a graphical user interface (GUI).

### Claim 17 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the content is one of augmented reality information, an electronic book (e-book), or a movie.

### Claim 18 (depends on 13)

The apparatus of claim 13, wherein the contactless gesture is performed at a front portion of the optical device or a side portion of the optical device.

### Claim 19

A computer program product, comprising:
a computer-readable medium comprising code for:
generating at least one signal in response to a contactless gesture performed proximate to an infrared proximity sensor situated on the optical device, the contactless gesture corresponding to a command;
identifying the command using the at least one signal; and
executing the command.
