## Abstract

A radar system contains a plurality of sub-modules which irradiate beams for a distributed aperture radar. Each of the plurality of sub-modules irradiates the beam, moves and, and communicates with an external unit for a distributed aperture process. The radar system may contain a command unit configured to command the sub-modules. The command unit measures each sub-module and communicates with the sub-module, acquires necessary data of measurement data of the sub-module, position data received from the sub-module, operation situation data of the sub-module and topographical data around the sub-module, calculates a synthetic beam pattern, calculates the arrangement of the sub-modules when the synthetic beam pattern becomes equal to a predetermined pattern, and instructs each sub-module to move based on the calculated arrangement of the sub-modules.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A radar system comprising sub-modules configured to irradiate beams for a distributed aperture radar,
wherein each of said sub-modules comprises:
an irradiating section configured to irradiate the beam;
a move mechanism for autonomous movement; and
a communication section configured to communicate with an external unit for a distributed aperture process.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The radar system according to claim 1, further comprising:
a command unit configured to command said sub-modules,
wherein said command unit comprises at least one of:
a measuring section configured to measure each of said sub-modules;
a communication section used to communicate with each of said sub-modules;
a calculating section configured to acquire at least one of measurement data of each of said sub-modules, position data received from said sub-module, operation situation data of said sub-module, and topographical data around said sub-module, to calculate a synthetic beam pattern, and calculate an arrangement of said sub-modules such that the synthesis beam pattern matches a predetermined pattern; and
an instructing section configured to instruct each of said sub-modules to move based on the calculated arrangement of said sub-modules.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The radar system according to claim 2, wherein said command unit further comprises:
a flight section operable to fly over a distribution point of said sub-modules; and
a distributing section configured to distribute said sub-modules during the flight over the distribution point.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The radar system according to claim 1, wherein each of said sub-modules comprises:
a position determining section configured to carry out at least one of communication with another sub-module, measurement of a position of said another sub-module, and evaluation of a position of its own position, to determine the own position;
a monitoring section configured to monitor an operation situation of said another sub-module to detect whether said another sub-module is stopped or is degraded; and
a position adjusting section configured to adjust the own position through autonomous decentralized control based on the monitoring result.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The radar system according to claim 4, wherein each of said sub-modules further comprises:
a reference determining section configured to determine a reference sub-module from said sub-modules; and
a relocation position determining section configured to determine its own relocation position to said reference sub-module.

### Claim 6

A sub-module which is one of a plurality of sub-modules which irradiate beams for a distributed aperture radar, said sub-module comprising:
a beam irradiating section configured to irradiate the beam;
a move mechanism for autonomous movement; and
a communication section configured to communicate with an external unit for a distributed aperture process.

### Claim 7

A radar processing method executed by each of a plurality of sub-modules which irradiate beams for a distributed aperture radar, said radar processing method comprising:
irradiating one of the beams;
autonomously moving; and
communicating with an external unit for a distributed aperture process.
