## Abstract

A security element adapted for integration into a security document. The security element having a substrate with a first face and a second face. An optical structure is disposed on the first face, and at least two patterns are inscribed on the second face. The two patterns are at least partially identical. The first pattern is observable at a first position on the second face through the optical structure along a first viewing angle. The second pattern is observable at a second position on the second face through the optical structure along a second viewing angle. Authenticity of the document may be verified by comparing the observed patterns.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A security element comprising:
a substrate having a first face and a second face, the first face equipped with an optical structure, the second face having at least a first pattern and a second pattern inscribed thereon, the first and the second patterns being at least partially identical;
wherein the first pattern is observable at a first position on the second face through the optical structure along a first viewing angle; and
wherein the second pattern is observable at a second position on the second face through the optical structure along a second viewing angle.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The security element as claimed in claim 1, further comprising the second face having a reflective, a semi-reflective, or an at least partially opaque surface, the surface being observable at the first position along the second viewing angle and at the second position along the first viewing angle.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The security element as claimed in claim 1, further comprising the optical structure having a lenticular array comprising a set of lenses.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The security element as claimed in claim 3, wherein the distance between the optical structure and the first pattern and the second pattern is less than or equal to a focal distance of the lenses of the lenticular array.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The security element as claimed in claim 3, wherein the distance between the optical structure and the first pattern and the second pattern is greater than or equal to a radius of curvature at a center of the lenses of the lenticular array.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The security element as claimed in claim 3, wherein the lenses of the lenticular array are cylindrical or hemispherical.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

The security element as claimed in claim 3, wherein the lenticular array is selected from the group consisting of coplanar hemispherical lenses positioned in staggered rows, hexagonal lenses arranged in a honeycomb configuration, and juxtaposed cylindrical lenses.

### Claim 8 (depends on 2)

The security element as claimed in claim 2, further comprising the first pattern and the second pattern having a set of unconnected pattern elements, each pattern element being positioned opposite a corresponding lens,
wherein each pattern element of the first pattern is positioned on a first side of the corresponding lens and each pattern element of the second pattern is positioned on a second side of the corresponding lens, the first and the second sides of the corresponding lens being opposite with respect to a center axis thereof.

### Claim 9 (depends on 2)

The security element as claimed in claim 2, wherein the reflective, the semi-reflective, or the at least partially opaque surface is metallic.

### Claim 10 (depends on 2)

The security element as claimed in claim 2, wherein the first pattern and the second pattern are printed on the reflective, the semi-reflective, or the at least partially opaque surface.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The security element as claimed in claim 1, further comprising an adhesive, the adhesive being disposed on the first and the second faces of the substrate.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The security element as claimed in claim 1, further comprising an adhesive being disposed on the first face of the substrate, wherein the optical structure is devoid of adhesive.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The security element as claimed in claim 12, wherein the substrate is of an elongated shape, the adhesive being disposed on edges thereof.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The security element as claimed in claim 1, further comprising unconnected magnetic elements forming a magnetic code.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The security element as claimed in claim 14, further comprising the magnetic code having at least two magnetic materials having high and different coercivities, the magnetic materials being arranged to have substantially equal remanences.

### Claim 16 (depends on 14)

The security element as claimed in claim 14, further comprising a weakly coercive magnetic zone covered at least partially with a highly coercive magnetic zone, wherein the highly coercive magnetic zone magnetizes the weakly coercive magnetic zone.

### Claim 17 (depends on 1)

The security element as claimed in claim 1, wherein the security element is disposed within a security support, the security support being of a material selected from the group consisting of natural fibrous materials, synthetic fibers, and combinations thereof.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The security element as claimed in claim 17, wherein the security element is in a form of a thread, the thread being at least partially integrated into the security support.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)
