## Abstract

A child carrier and support apparatus for securing a child in a seated position atop a wearer's shoulders comprising a chest strap sized for encirclement of a torso of a body of a wearer which employs means for encircled engagement within a passage of the ankle or the leg adjacent to the ankle, of both legs of a child, sitting upon the shoulders of the wearer, to provide a means for preventing the child from falling rearward. In at least one preferred mode the means for encircled engagement is provided by a pair of ankle engagements which are pivotally engaged to the chest strap.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A child carrier and support apparatus for a child in a seated position atop a wearer's shoulders comprising;
a chest strap, a first end and second end;
means for removable securement of said first end to said second end;
said chest strap sized for encirclement of a torso of a body of a wearer, in an as-used position;
means for encircled engagement within a passage of the ankle or the leg adjacent to the ankle, of both legs of a child, sitting upon the shoulders of said wearer;
said means for encircled engagement in a connection to said chest strap; and
whereby said ankles or legs adjacent thereto, of said child sitting on said wearer's shoulders, when engaged with said chest strap in said encircled engagement, provides a means for preventing said child from falling rearward.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The child carrier and securement device of claim 1 further comprising:
said connection for said means for circled engagement to said chest strap being a support member engaged thereto on a first surface, said support member in an engagement at a first end to said chest strap, and extending along said first surface to a distal end;
said support member pivotable at said first end to allow a pivoting of said member in a direction away from said torso of said wearer; and
said pivoting of said support member positioning said means for encircled engagement to an angle matching an angle of said leg of said child sitting on said shoulders of said wearer with said ankle or leg adjacent thereto engaged within said means for encircled engagement.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The child carrier and securement device of claim 1 wherein said means for encircled engagement of the ankle or the leg adjacent to the ankle, of both legs of a child, comprises:
a pair of ankle engagements each in an attachment to said chest strap;
each said ankle engagement having a first curved member in a connection to said chest strap and a first end and extending to a first distal end and having a second curved member attached in a connection to said chest strap and extending to a second distal end;
said first distal end positioned across a gap opposite said second distal end and defining said passage in between said first curved member and said second curved member;
said gap in a default position of said first and second distal ends, sized smaller than the diameter of said ankle or leg adjacent thereto; and
said gap engageable to a second size, larger than said diameter of said ankle or leg adjacent thereto by a biasing of said first curved member in a direction opposite said second curved member wherein said leg of said child is insertable between said curved members or removable therefrom when said gap is enlarged to said second size.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The child carrier and securement device of claim 2 wherein said means for encircled engagement of the ankle or the leg adjacent to the ankle, of both legs of a child, comprises:
a pair of ankle engagements each in an attachment to said chest strap;
each said ankle engagement having a first curved member in a connection to said chest strap and a first end and extending to a first distal end and having a second curved member attached in a connection to said chest strap and extending to a second distal end;
said first distal end positioned across a gap opposite said second distal end and defining said passage in between said first curved member and said second curved member;
said gap in a default position of said first and second distal ends, sized smaller than the diameter of said ankle or leg adjacent thereto; and
said gap engageable to a second size, larger than said diameter of said ankle or leg adjacent thereto by a biasing of said first curved member in a direction opposite said second curved member wherein said leg of said child is insertable between said curved members or removable therefrom when said gap is enlarged to said second size.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The child carrier and securement device of claim 3 additionally comprising:
said first curved member and said second curved member having an arced portion formed at each of said first distal end and said second distal end, said arc extending along a portion of both said curved members toward said respective first ends, being between a distal edge at each of said first distal end and said second distal end;
said arced portions positioning said distal respective distal edges of each of said first and second curved members, facing the front of the body of the wearer;
said arced portions having said distal edges so positioned causing a closing of said gap during a contact by said leg of said child positioned in-between said first and second curved members moving in a direction away from the front of the torso of said wearer, whereby said leg of said child will not force open said gap to said second size during a said contact with said leg.

### Claim 6 (depends on 3)

The child carrier and securement device of claim 3 additionally comprising:
said first curved member and said second curved member having an arced portion formed at each of said first distal end and said second distal end, said arc extending along a portion of both said curved members toward said respective first ends, being between a distal edge at each of said first distal end and said second distal end;
said arced portions positioning said distal respective distal edges of each of said first and second curved members, facing the front of the body of the wearer;
said arced portions having said distal edges so positioned causing a closing of said gap during a contact by said leg of said child positioned in-between said first and second curved members moving in a direction away from the front of the torso of said wearer, whereby said leg of said child will not force open said gap to said second size during a said contact with said leg.

### Claim 7 (depends on 2)

The child carrier and securement device of claim 2 additionally comprising:
said connection for said means for circled engagement to said chest strap being a rotatable connection to said support member; and
said means for circled engagement being rotatable about said first surface to radial positions to match an angle of an axis through said passage with an incoming angle of said leg of said child in said seated position and extending therein.

### Claim 8 (depends on 3)

The child carrier and securement device of claim 3 additionally comprising:
said ankle engagements having a rotatable connection to said chest strap; and
said ankle engagements being to radial positions to match an angle of an axis through said passage with an incoming angle of said leg of said child in said seated position and extending therein.

### Claim 9 (depends on 3)
