## Abstract

A scale system includes a scale and a base. The scale includes a plurality of feet and a plurality of load cells, wherein each of the plurality of load cells is associated with one of the plurality of feet. The base includes a plate having an upper surface and a lower surface. A plurality of supports extend from the lower surface. Each of the plurality of supports includes a columnar projection.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A scale system comprising:
a scale comprising a plurality of feet and a plurality of load cells, wherein each of the plurality of load cells is associated with one of the plurality of feet; and
a base comprising:
a plate comprising an upper surface and a lower surface; and
a plurality of supports extending from the lower surface, wherein each of the plurality of supports comprises a columnar projection.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The scale system of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of locators on the upper surface, wherein each of the plurality of locators is adapted to contact one of the plurality of feet.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The scale system of claim 2, further comprising a plurality of ribs extending from the lower surface.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The scale system of claim 1, wherein the plate defines a plurality of openings therethrough.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

The scale system of claim 3, wherein the scale comprises four feet and four load cells, and wherein the base comprises four locators and four supports.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The scale system of claim 5, wherein each of the plurality of supports comprises:
an annular projection extending from the lower surface; and
a plurality of columnar projections extending from the annular projection.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The scale system of claim 6, further comprising an angled ramp connecting the annular projection to at least one of the plurality of ribs.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The scale system of claim 7, wherein the angled ramp comprises a plurality of ramps.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The scale system of claim 1, wherein a distance from the bottom surface to an end of the columnar projection is selected from at least about 20 mm, at least about 25 mm, and about 27.5 mm.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The scale system of claim 1, wherein the columnar projection is adapted to penetrate carpet pile.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The scale system of claim 1, wherein the scale comprises a scale perimeter dimension and the base comprises a base perimeter dimension greater than the scale perimeter dimension.

### Claim 12 (depends on 2)

The scale system of claim 2, wherein at least one of the plurality of locators comprises a receiver for receiving at least one of the plurality of feet.

### Claim 13 (depends on 2)

The scale system of claim 2, wherein the locator comprises a resilient element.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The scale system of claim 1, wherein the base and the scale are permanently attached to form a single unit.

### Claim 15 (depends on 1)

The scale system of claim 1, further comprising a locking feature for selectively securing the scale to the base.

### Claim 16

A base for a scale comprising a plurality of feet and a plurality of load cells, wherein each of the plurality of load cells is associated with one of the plurality of feet, the base comprising:
a plate comprising an upper surface and a lower surface; and
a plurality of supports extending from the lower surface, wherein each of the plurality of supports comprises a columnar projection.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The base of claim 16, further comprising a plurality of locators on the upper surface, wherein each of the plurality of locators is adapted to contact one of the plurality of feet.

### Claim 18 (depends on 16)

The base of claim 16, wherein each of the plurality of supports comprises:
an annular projection extending from the lower surface; and
a plurality of columnar projections extending from the annular projection.

### Claim 19 (depends on 16)

The base of claim 16, further comprising an angled ramp connecting an annular projection to the lower surface.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The base of claim 19, wherein the angled ramp comprises a plurality of ramps.
