## Abstract

A load-bearing garment, such as a vest, is provided having stretchable web platform on an outside surface, such as between front and back panels of the vest. The stretchable web platform includes stretchable bands that extend horizontally, and vertical webbing extending between multiple horizontal bands. Additional embodiments are directed to a mounting system in a plate carrier for a plate. Still further embodiments are directed to a handle and strap system for a vest or other garment that permits a quick rescue of a person wearing the vest.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A vest, comprising:
a front panel;
a rear panel;
a stretchable web platform extending between the front panel and the rear panel, the stretchable web platform comprising:
at least two generally horizontally aligned stretchable web structures, each of the structures attached to both the front and rear panels; and
at least one vertical webbing structure connecting the at least two generally horizontally aligned stretchable web structures.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The vest of claim 1, wherein each of the horizontally aligned stretchable web structures comprises tube webbing attached at ends to an elastic strip to compress the tube webbing.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The vest of claim 2, wherein the elastic strip is approximately ⅔ of the length of the web tubing when the elastic strip is not in tension.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The vest of claim 1, wherein the number of horizontally aligned stretchable web structures comprises three or more, and the number of vertical webbing structures is two or more, and wherein the horizontally aligned stretchable web structures and the vertical webbing structures form a grid.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The vest of claim 4, wherein the grid is configured to receive MOLLE gear attached to the horizontally aligned stretchable web structures.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The vest of claim 5, wherein the grid is configured to receive MOLLE gear attached to the vertical webbing structures.

### Claim 7 (depends on 4)

The vest of claim 4, wherein the grid is configured to receive MOLLE gear attached to the vertical webbing structures.

### Claim 8

A fabric structure, comprising:
a first panel;
a second panel;
a stretchable web platform extending between the first panel and the second panel, the stretchable web platform comprising:
at least two stretchable web structures, each of the structures attached to both the first and second panels; and
at least one linking webbing structure connecting the at least two stretchable web structures.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The fabric structure of claim 8, wherein each of the stretchable web structures comprises tube webbing attached at ends to an elastic strip to compress the tube webbing.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The fabric structure of claim 9, wherein the elastic strip is approximately ⅔ of the length of the web tubing when the elastic strip is not in tension.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The fabric structure of claim 7, wherein the number of stretchable web structures comprises three or more, and the number of linking webbing structures comprises two or more, and wherein the stretchable web structures and the linking webbing structures form a grid.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The fabric structure of claim 11, wherein the grid is configured to receive MOLLE gear attached to the stretchable web structures.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The fabric structure of claim 12, wherein the grid is configured to receive MOLLE gear attached to the linking webbing structures.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)

The fabric structure of claim 11, wherein the grid is configured to receive MOLLE gear attached to the linking webbing structures.

### Claim 15

A plate carrier, comprising:
a pocket for receiving a plate;
a first strap set for supporting a lower right corner of a plate within the pocket; and
a second strap set for supporting a lower left corner of a plate within the pocket.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The plate carrier of claim 15, wherein the first and second strap sets each comprise:
a first strap anchored within the pocket and aligned to extend downward in the pocket; and
a second strap anchored within the pocket and aligned to extend sideways in the pocket;
the first and second straps comprising fasteners for attaching the straps and supporting and centering a plate within the pocket.

### Claim 17 (depends on 16)

The plate carrier of claim 16, wherein the fasteners comprise hook and loop fasteners.

### Claim 18 (depends on 16)

The plate carrier of claim 16, wherein the first and second straps for each strap sets is anchored in a single location.

### Claim 19 (depends on 15)

The plate carrier of claim 15, further comprising a handle and strap system that permits pulling of a wearer of the plate carrier by a handle.

### Claim 20 (depends on 19)

The plate carrier of claim 19, wherein the handle and strap system comprises:
a strap anchored to the plate carrier; and
a handle at the end of the strap;
wherein the strap and handle are configurable between (1) a storage configuration where the handle is anchored on the plate carrier and the strap is received in a sleeve or pocket of the plate carrier and (2) a deployed configuration where the handle is pulled away from the plate carrier and the strap is at least mostly pulled out of the sleeve so that a rescuer can pull the handle to drag a wearer of the plate carrier.
