A method for detecting a signal activity on a bus comprises measuring a current on the bus, and determining a signal activity based on the measured current.

- measuring a current on the bus;
- and
- determining a signal activity based on the measured current.

- applying a test current to the bus;
- measuring a voltage drop on the bus;

- adapting a transmission process based on the voltage drop.

- a voltage source configured to apply a voltage to the bus, the voltage source being configured to change a voltage applied to the bus;
- a sensor configured to measure a current;
