Abstract
Generally L-shaped, square, rectangular, triangular, hexagonal, parallelogram and other-shaped paving stones with inter-fitting vertical spacers forming serpentine side contact surfaces that provide enhanced stone-to-stone interlocking in both water-permeable and water-impermeable paving installations.
Claims25
An assembly of paving stones on water permeable substrate, a plurality of which stones comprise a dry-cast concrete paver comprising:
- a. generally planer, generally parallel top and bottom surfaces,
- b. generally planer vertical walls perpendicular to the top and bottom surfaces, and
- c. at least one vertically extending spacer protruding from each vertical wall, the at least one spacer:
- i. located adjacent to at least one like-shaped spacer protruding from an adjacent stone and
- ii. generally comprising two planar surfaces:
- 1. at approximately 90 degrees to each other,
- 2. joined to each other by a curved surface, and
- 3. each intersecting with one of the vertical walls.
A paving stone adapted for use with like stones on water permeable substrate to provide water permeable paving, the paving stone comprising a dry cast concrete block comprising:
- a. generally planer, generally parallel top and bottom surfaces,
- b. generally vertical walls perpendicular to the top and bottom surfaces,
- i. a portion of each of which vertical wall is generally planar, and
- ii. another portion of each of which vertical wall is horizontally serpentine and located to inter-fit with a serpentine portion of a vertical wall of an abutting like-shaped block and position the generally planar portions of the same vertical walls opposing and spaced apart from each other.
A paving stone adapted for use with other like-shaped stones to provide water permeable paving, the stone comprising a dry-cast concrete paver comprising:
- a. generally planer, generally parallel top and bottom surfaces,
- b. generally planer vertical walls perpendicular to the top and bottom surfaces, and
- c. at least two vertically extending spacers protruding from each vertical wall, each spacer comprising two planar surfaces:
- i. at approximately 90 degrees to each other,
- ii. joined to each other by a curved surface, and
- iii. each intersecting with one of the vertical walls at an outside angle of approximately 135 degrees.
