Abstract
High quality, sharply focused images of an iris and the face of a person are acquired in rapid succession in either sequence by a single sensor and one or more illuminators, preferably within less than one second of each other, by changing the sensor settings or illumination levels between each acquisition.
Claims20
A method for acquiring images of an iris and a face from a single person comprising acquiring in either order and in rapid succession, with a sensor and one or more illuminators, (A) a high quality, sharply in focus image of an iris, the sensor and the one or more illuminators having a first parameter set adapted to acquire a sharp image of the iris;
- and (B) a high quality, sharply in focus image of the face at a second parameter set, wherein steps (A) and (B) are within a sufficiently short time of each other to assure that the iris image and the face image are of the same single person.
A system for acquiring images of an iris and a face and determining that the images of the iris and face are from the same person comprising providing a sensor, an illuminator, and a processor adapted to acquire a high quality image of an iris of the person at a first set parameters comprising illumination pulse setting, an illumination amplitude setting, a camera integration time, a camera gain setting, a camera offset setting, and a camera wavelength;
- and to acquire a high quality image of the face of the person at a second set of parameters, adapted to acquire the two images in either sequence and in rapid succession.
