Abstract
A wireless user equipment (UE) configured to initiate a packet based session includes a reservation setup protocol (RSVP) message generator configured to transmit a RSVP PATH message. The RSVP PATH message includes a direction indication. The direction indicator indicates that reservations should be made for the UE to transmit only, to receive only or to both transmit and receive. The UE also includes an RSVP message receiver configured to receive an RSVP RESV message indicating that reservations have been made as a result of the RSVP PATH message.
Claims20
An integrated circuit (IC), comprising:
- circuitry configured to output a first message for transmission to a communication peer via a network comprising a plurality of routers for reserving resources along a path to the communication peer;
- and
- circuitry configured to receive a second message from the communication peer in response to the first message, wherein resources for communication in both directions to and from the communication peer are reserved by routers along the path as the second message traverses the network along the path.
A system comprising:
- a first user equipment (UE), comprising:
- a reservation message generator configured to output a first message for transmission to a second UE via a network comprising a plurality of routers for reserving resources along a path to the second UE;
- and
- a reservation message receiver configured to receive a second message from the second UE in response to the first message, wherein resources for communication in both directions to and from the second UE are reserved by routers along the path as the second message traverses the network along the path;
- and
- the second UE comprising:
- a reservation message receiver configured to receive the first message from the network;
- and
- a reservation message generator configured to output the second message for transmission.
A router, comprising:
- circuitry configured to receive a first message from a first user equipment (UE) and transmit the first message to a second UE, wherein the first message includes information for reserving resources along a path from the first UE to the second UE;
- circuitry configured to receive a second message from the second UE in response to the first message;
- and
- circuitry configured to reserve resources along the path for communication in both directions to and from the second UE as the second message traverses the path.
