Subject matter disclosed herein relates to measuring modes of a waveguide.

A method comprising:
- estimating optical energy distribution with respect to modes of a waveguide by sufficiently resolving separate intermodal group delays across a range of frequencies for a plurality of waveguide output locations from optical signal measurements.
An apparatus comprising:
- a computing device;
- said computing device to estimate optical energy distribution with respect to modes of a waveguide by sufficiently resolving separate intermodal group delays across a range of frequencies for a plurality of waveguide output locations from optical signal measurements.
An article comprising:
- a storage medium having stored thereon instructions capable of being executed by a computing device to estimate optical energy distribution with respect to modes of a waveguide by sufficiently resolving separate intermodal group delay across a range of frequencies for a plurality of waveguide output locations from optical signal measurements.
