Abstract
Disclosed are various embodiments for automatically generating media and/or data associated with an item. An item imaging apparatus may apply an imaging sequence based on an item being imaged to gather media and/or data associated with the item. The media and/or data associated with the item may be used in the generation of additional data associated with the item. The media and/or data may be in a profile of the item in an electronic marketplace.
Claims26
A system, comprising:
- at least one computing device;
- an item imaging apparatus in communication with the at least one computing device, the item imaging apparatus comprising:
- a platform to support an item, wherein the platform is configured to rotate the item;
- a scale assembly configured to measure a weight of the item;
- a plurality of lights configured to illuminate the item;
- and
- a plurality of imaging devices capable of tilting and providing a plurality of zoom levels, wherein the imaging devices are set on at least one curved pathway;
- an actuator configured to move at least one of the imaging devices along the curved pathway from a first position to a second position;
- and
- an imaging application executable in the at least one computing device, the at least one computing device comprising:
- logic that identifies a category associated with the item;
- logic that determines an imaging sequence based at least in part on the category;
- logic that conducts the imaging sequence, wherein the imaging sequence comprises varying a luminous intensity of the lights, enabling the actuator to move the imaging device along the curved pathway, rotating the platform, and conducting a capture process by the imaging device to create a plurality of images;
- and
- logic that generates data corresponding to the item, wherein the data is obtained from the images.
A system, comprising:
- at least one computing device;
- and
- an item imaging apparatus in communication with the at least one computing device, the item imaging apparatus comprising:
- a platform to support an item;
- a plurality of lights;
- at least one imaging device set on a pathway;
- and
- an actuator configured to move the at least one imaging device along the pathway from a first position to a second position;
- and
- an imaging application executable in the at least one computing device, the imaging application comprising logic that initiates an imaging sequence to generate a plurality of images of the item and data obtained from the images of the item.
A method, comprising the steps of:
- determining, in a computing device, an imaging sequence to apply to generate a plurality of images of an item and to obtain data from the item;
- applying, in the computing device, the imaging sequence to an item on a platform in an item imaging apparatus, the imaging sequence comprising:
- selectively illuminating a plurality of lights;
- moving at least one imaging device along a pathway;
- and
- capturing the images with at least one imaging device;
- identifying, in the computing device, the item associated with the images and the data;
- generating, in the computing device, a description of the item based at least in part on the data;
- and
- generating, in the computing device, a three-dimensional rendering of the item based at least in part on the images.
An arrangement, comprising:
- a first rotatable platform configured to support and rotate an item;
- a sensor assembly communicatively coupled to the rotatable platform configured to measure a weight of the item;
- a second rotatable platform coupled to a reflector, wherein the first rotatable platform and the second rotatable platform are configured to move independently;
- a plurality of light panels fixed on a curved support to illuminate the item;
- at least one imaging device set on a fixture, wherein the fixture is fixed on an curved pathway;
- and
- an actuator configured to move the at least one imaging device along the curved pathway from a first position to a second position to capture a plurality of images of the item from a plurality of varying angles.
