Backlight unit and display device including the same

A display device comprising:

• a display panel comprising a plurality of pixels;
• a drive circuit which controls the display panel to display an image on the display panel;
• and
• a backlight unit which supplies light to the display panel,
• wherein the backlight unit comprises:
• a power supply converter which outputs a light emitting diode drive voltage to an output node in response to a mode signal and a switching control signal, wherein the power supply converter comprises:
• a primary winding connected to an input power supply voltage;
• and
• a second winding connected to the primary winding and the output node;
• a light emitting diode string connected to the output node of the power supply converter,
• wherein the power supply converter serially connects a boosting winding to the secondary winding when the mode signal represents a three-dimensional image display mode, and outputs a boosted light emitting diode drive voltage to the output node through the boosting winding.
