Abstract
An apparatus and method are provided for permitting a wireless power receiver to be charged by a wireless power transmitter. The method includes generating a Power Receiving Unit (PRU) control signal including permission information indicating charging permission for the wireless power receiver; and transmitting the PRU control signal to the wireless power receiver.
Claims22
A method for permitting a wireless power receiver to be charged by a wireless power transmitter, the method comprising the steps of:
- generating a Power Receiving Unit (PRU) control signal including permission information indicating charging permission for the wireless power receiver;
- and
- transmitting the PRU control signal to the wireless power receiver.
A method for permitting a wireless power receiver for charging by a wireless power receiver, the method comprising the steps of:
- receiving, the by wireless power receiver, a Power Receiving Unit (PRU) control signal including permission information indicating that the wireless power receiver is permitted for the charging;
- determining whether to be on standby;
- generating a PRU reporting signal including standby information indicating whether or not the wireless power receiver is determined to be on standby for the charging;
- and
- transmitting the PRU reporting signal to the wireless power transmitter.
A wireless power transmitter for performing wireless charging of a wireless power receiver, the wireless power transmitter comprising:
- a power transmitter configured to wirelessly transmit charging power to the wireless power receiver;
- a controller configured to generate a Power Receiving Unit (PRU) control signal including permission information indicating charging permission for the wireless power receiver;
- and
- a communication unit configured to transmit the PRU control signal to the wireless power receiver.
A wireless power receiver for being wirelessly charged by a wireless power transmitter, the wireless power receiver comprising:
- a power receiver configured to receive charging power from the wireless power transmitter;
- a communication unit configured to receive, from the wireless power transmitter, a Power Receiving Unit (PRU) control signal including permission information indicating charging permission for the wireless power receiver;
- a display unit configured to display a message asking a user whether to be on standby;
- and
- a controller configured to generate a PRU reporting signal including standby information indicating whether the wireless power receiver is on standby for charging and to send the PRU reporting signal to the wireless power transmitter, via the communication unit.
