A hydraulic piston pump, comprising:

• a valve including:
• a valve seat;
• a valve orifice formed in the valve seat and including an inner wall;
• a valve closing body arranged on the valve seat and configured to selectively open and close the valve orifice;
• and
• a guide mechanism configured to guide the valve closing body relative to the valve seat,
• wherein the guide mechanism extends into the valve orifice and includes at least one fluid-conducting recess and at least one region, the at least one region being configured to rest against the inner wall of the valve orifice to guide the valve closing body.

A vehicle brake system, comprising:

• a hydraulic piston pump including:
• a valve including:
• a valve seat;
• a valve orifice formed in the valve seat and including an inner wall:
• a valve closing body arranged on the valve seat and configured to selectively open and close the valve orifice;
• and
• a guide mechanism configured to guide the valve closing body relative to the valve seat,
• wherein the guide mechanism extends into the valve orifice and includes at least one fluid-conducting recess and at least one region, the at least one region being configured to rest against the inner wall of the valve orifice to guide the valve closing body.
