1-20. (canceled)
A method of removing slag within a utility furnace, the method comprising:
- providing a pressurized fluid stream comprising a fluid, wherein the fluid comprises at least one of:
- air, steam, and water;
- mixing a compound with the pressurized fluid stream to form a mixture;
- and
- delivering the mixture through a soot blower to a targeted area inside the utility furnace, wherein the targeted area includes slag on an outside surface of one or more tubes;
- wherein the compound, in the mixture, chemically reacts with the slag to improve removal of the slag from the interior of the utility furnace, and wherein the slag is removed via a combination of chemical reaction and mechanical forces.

A method of removing slag from the interior of a utility furnace, the method comprising:
- supplying a compound mixture, through soot blowers that were originally configured solely for removal of soot using a pressurized fluid stream without a compound but that now are configured to inject the compound in line with the pressurized fluid stream, to be delivered to targeted areas on the inside of the utility furnace, to slag on interior walls of the utility furnace for removal of the slag using chemical reaction and mechanical force.
A utility furnace system comprising:
- a utility furnace;
- a soot blower;
- wherein the soot blower is configured to mix a compound with a pressurized fluid stream to create a mixture, and wherein the soot blower is configure to deliver the mixture to targeted locations inside the utility furnace;
- wherein the targeted locations comprise slag, and wherein the compound is configured to chemically react with the slag to facilitate removal of the slag from the interior of the utility furnace via a combination of chemical reaction with the compound and mechanical forces associated with the pressurized fluid stream.
