Abstract
The present invention provides a double stranded RNA molecule comprising an antisense strand and a sense strand, wherein the nucleotide sequence of the antisense strand is complementary to a portion of the nucleotide sequence of a Hg-rps-23 gene of a soybean cyst nematode, nucleic acid molecules encoding the RNA molecules and compositions comprising the nucleic acid molecules and RNA molecules of this invention, as well as methods of their use in enhancing resistance of a plant or plant cell to nematode infestation and infection.
Claims62
A double stranded RNA molecule comprising an antisense strand and a sense strand, wherein the nucleotide sequence of the antisense strand is complementary to a portion of the nucleotide sequence of a Hg-rps-23 gene of a soybean cyst nematode, the portion consisting essentially of about 18 to about 25 consecutive nucleotides of SEQ ID NO:931;
- wherein the double stranded RNA molecule inhibits expression of the Hg-rps-23 gene.
A chimeric nucleic acid molecule comprising an antisense strand having the nucleotide sequence of any of SEQ ID NOs:464-926 operably associated with a plant microRNA precursor molecule.
An artificial plant microRNA precursor molecule comprising an antisense strand having the nucleotide sequence of any of SEQ ID Nos:464-926.
