Abstract
An approach is provided to improve security of security questions. In the approach, the system prompts a user for a security question. The security question and security answer associated with the security question are received by the system using a user input to the information handling system. Network-accessible data stores, such as social network accounts, are searched for the security answer resulting in search results. The searching results reveal a risk level which is identified by the system. The identified risk level is provided to the user, such as at a display device.

An information handling system comprising:
- one or more processors;
- a memory coupled to at least one of the processors;
- a display accessible by at least one of the processors;
- a user input interface accessible by at least one of the processors;
- a network adapter that connects the information handling system to a computer network;
- and
- a set of instructions stored in the memory and executed by at least one of the processors to improve security of one or more security questions, wherein the set of instructions perform actions of:
- receiving a security question and a security answer associated with the security question;
- searching one or more network-accessible data stores for the security answer, the searching resulting in one or more search results;
- identifying a risk level pertaining to the security question based on the search results;
- and
- displaying the identified risk level on the display.
A computer program product stored in a computer readable medium, comprising computer instructions that, when executed by an information handling system, causes the information handling system to perform actions comprising:
- receiving a security question and a security answer associated with the security question;
- searching one or more network-accessible data stores for the security answer, the searching resulting in one or more search results;
- identifying a risk level pertaining to the security question based on the search results;
- and
- transmitting the identified risk level to the user.
