Abstract
A system includes a non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM) device and controller logic that detects a bad block within the device, retires the bad block and replaces the bad block with a replacement block by assigning the address of the bad block to the replacement block.
Claims30
An apparatus comprising:
- memory controller logic to detect a bad block within a non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM) device, retire the bad block and replace the bad block with a replacement block by assigning the address of the bad block to the replacement block.
A method comprising:
- detecting a bad block within a non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM);
- selecting a replacement block;
- assigning the address of the bad block to the replacement block;
- and
- retiring the bad block.

A system comprising:
- a non-volatile random access memory (NVRAM) device;
- and
- controller logic to detect a bad block within the NVRAM device, retire the bad block and replace the bad block with a replacement block by assigning the address of the bad block to the replacement block.
The system of claim 23 wherein the controller logic moves the contents of the bad block to the replacement block prior to retiring the bad block.
