Abstract
Methods and apparatus are disclosed to improve system boot speed. A disclosed example method includes associating a first serial peripheral interface (SPI) with a baseboard management controller (BMC), copying an image from the first SPI to a volatile memory in response to receiving power at the BMC, and in response to receiving an access request associated with the first SPI, providing access to the image stored in the volatile memory.
Claims28
A method to improve boot speed, comprising:
- associating a first serial peripheral interface (SPI) with a baseboard management controller (BMC);
- copying an image from the first SPI to a volatile memory in response to receiving power at the BMC;
- and
- in response to receiving an access request associated with the first SPI, providing access to the image stored in the volatile memory.
A multi-processor processing platform, comprising:
- a first processor on the multi-processor platform in communication with a baseboard management controller (BMC);
- a serial peripheral interface (SPI) in communication with the BMC;
- and
- a boot optimizer in communication with the BMC to redirect read access requests by the first processor from the SPI to a volatile memory associated with the BMC.
A tangible machine readable storage medium comprising instructions stored thereon that, when executed, cause a machine to, at least:
- associate a first serial peripheral interface (SPI) with a baseboard management controller (BMC);
- copy an image from the first SPI to a volatile memory in response to receiving power at the BMC;
- and
- in response to receiving an access request associated with the first SPI, provide access to the image stored in the volatile memory.
