System and method of recommending actions based on social capital of users in a social network

An apparatus, comprising:

• one or more processors;
• one or more network interfaces;
• a memory;
• and
• computer-executable instructions stored on a computer readable medium, the instructions readable by the one or more processors, the instructions, when read and executed, causing the one or more processors to:
• calculate an influence score relating to an action performed by a user of a social network, the influence score for the user being based on performance of the action by a contact of the user and occurring after performance of the action by the user;
• and
• calculate an action score based on the influence score for the user.

An article of manufacture comprising:

• a computer readable medium;
• and
• computer-executable instructions stored on the computer readable medium, the instructions readable by a processor, the instructions, when read and executed, causing the processor to:
• calculate an influence score relating to an action performed by a user of a social network, the influence score for the user being based on performance of the action by a contact of the user and occurring after performance of the action by the user;
• and
• calculate an action score based on the influence score for the user.
