Media stream index merging

A system comprising:

• a first server system operable to interact with a second server system and to perform operations comprising:
• receiving, at the first server system, a first index of a media stream, the media stream being fragmented into multiple sequentially arranged fragments, each of the fragments having an associated identifier, the first index comprising a first list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers corresponding to at least a portion of the multiple sequentially arranged fragments;
• identifying fragment identifiers that are potentially missing from the first index, the identifying comprising identifying a gap in the list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers based, at least in part, on a determined naming convention that indicates the sequential arrangement of the fragment identifiers;
• requesting, from the second server system, a second index of the media stream, the second index comprising a second list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers corresponding to the at least a portion of the multiple sequentially arranged fragments;
• comparing the first list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers and the second list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers, based, at least in part, on the determined naming convention;
• and
• reconstructing the first list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers based on the comparison.

A computer storage medium encoded with a computer program, the program comprising instructions that when executed by data processing apparatus cause the data processing apparatus to perform operations comprising:

• receiving, at a first server system, a first index of a media stream, the media stream being fragmented into multiple sequentially arranged fragments, each of the fragments having an associated identifier, the first index comprising a first list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers corresponding to at least a portion of the multiple sequentially arranged fragments;
• identifying fragment identifiers that are potentially missing from the first index, the identifying comprising identifying a gap in the list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers based, at least in part, on a determined naming convention that indicates the sequential arrangement of the fragment identifiers;
• requesting, from a second server system, a second index of the media stream, the second index comprising a second list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers corresponding to the at least a portion of the multiple sequentially arranged fragments;
• comparing the first list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers and the second list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers, based, at least in part, on the determined naming convention;
• and
• reconstructing the first list of sequentially arranged fragment identifiers based on the comparison.
