Abstract
Briefly, embodiments of methods or systems to replicate indexes in distributed search engines are described.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- executing machine-readable instructions by one or more processors to:
- generate, in response to one or more signals representing one or more queries received at a local computing site, one or more signals representing a first replication threshold identifying attributes of one or more documents from a remote computing site to be replicated at said local computing site;
- and
- generate one or more signals representing a second replication threshold determining, at least in part, that at least one entry of a posting list stored at said remote computing site is to be replicated at said local computing site.

An article comprising:
- a non-transitory storage medium comprising machine-readable instructions stored thereon which are executable by a special purpose computing apparatus to:
- compute first and second replication thresholds wherein:
- said first replication threshold identifies attributes of one or more documents for storage on a shadow index accessible to said special purpose computing apparatus, and
- said second replication threshold identifies attributes of one or more document entries on at least one posting list accessible to said special purpose computing apparatus.
