Home healthcare system including medication administration system and method of dispensing medicines

A dispensing device, comprising

• a user interface configured to receive user information to authorize access of a user to control care events of a patient,
• a transmitter/receiver configured to transmit or receive care related information for the patient based on the user information,
• a detector configured to detect medication item comprising a dosage to be taken at the same point of time,
• a reader configured to read item information of at least one detected medication item,
• a processor configured to compare the item information with the care related information to ensure that the patient is allowed to receive the medication item,
• the processor configured to set a reminder to the patient about the available medication item within a delivery time window based on the care related information and item information, and
• the transmitter/receiver configured to communicate, upon receiving the medication item within the delivery time window, an acknowledgement of the reminder.
