Abstract
Provided is a method for determining the efficiency of an ABS controller. The method may comprise performing a first test on a first tire using a first ABS controller at a first inflation pressure, gathering a first data set, using a digital computer to generate a first function from the first data set, and using a digital computer to calculate a first efficiency based on the first function. The first data set may comprise data about the first test. The first function may describe normalized mu versus time for a first time period.
Claims15

- gathering a first data set comprising a first type of data, and using a digital computer to,
- generate a first function describing normalized mu versus time for a first time period, and
- calculate a first efficiency based on the first function;
- and
- optionally, performing a second operation set, the second operation set comprising,
- performing the first type of test using the first ABS controller on the tire at a second inflation pressure,
- gathering a second data set comprising the first type of data, and using a digital computer to,
- generate a second function describing normalized mu versus time for a second time period
- calculate a second efficiency based on the second function.
An apparatus for determining the efficiency of an ABS controller, comprising:
- a sensing system adapted to gather a first data set comprising a first type of data during a test of a first type at a first inflation pressure, said test of a first type using a first ABS controller on a tire;
- a digital computer adapted to
- generate a first function from the first data set, said first function describing normalized mu versus time for a first time period, and
- calculate a first efficiency based on the first function;
- optionally, said sensing system being further adapted to gather a second data set comprising the first type of data during a test of the first type at a second inflation pressure;
- and
- optionally, said digital computer being further adapted to
- generate a second function from the second data set, said second function describing normalized mu versus time for a second time period, and calculate a second efficiency based on the second function.
A method for determining the efficiency of an ABS controller, comprising:
- performing a first operation set, the first operation set comprising,
- performing a first type of test using a first ABS controller on a tire at a first inflation pressure, wherein said first type of test comprises a first vehicle test, gathering a first data set comprising a first type of data, wherein the first type of data comprises data sufficient to calculate
- mu as a function of time;
- and
- slip ratio as a function of time and
- using a digital computer to,
- generate a first function describing normalized mu versus time for a first time period during steady operation, and
- calculate a first efficiency based on the first function;
- performing a second operation set, the second operation set comprising,
- performing the first type of test using the first ABS controller on the tire at a second inflation pressure,
