Abstract
The invention provides a process for stabilizing waste by landfilling, including mixing the waste with ash after burning oil shale, whereby safely stabilizing inorganic or organic waste by embedding it in a hardened matter exhibiting a high compression strength.
Claims20
A method for stabilizing hazardous waste, comprising steps of
- i) providing ash after burning oil shale (shale ash);
- ii) mixing said hazardous waste to be stabilized with said shale ash, wherein said ash is added in an amount of between 0.45 and 2.0 weight parts per one weight part of said waste, and
- iii) transferring said mixture to the site of landfill.
