Abstract
Disclosed herein are antisense compounds and methods for decreasing alpha-synuclein mRNA and protein expression. Also disclosed herein are methods for treating, preventing, and ameliorating neurodegenerative diseases in an individual in need thereof.

A modified oligonucleotide consisting of 12 to 30 linked nucleosides having a nucleobase sequence comprising at least 12 contiguous nucleobases of a nucleobase sequence selected from among the nucleobase sequences recited in SEQ ID NOs:
- 11 to 88 and 98 to 136.
A method, comprising identifying an animal having a neurodegenerative disease and administering to said animal a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a modified oligonucleotide consisting of 12 to 30 linked nucleosides having a nucleobase sequence comprising at least 12 contiguous nucleobases of a nucleobase sequence selected from among the nucleobase sequences recited in SEQ ID NOs:

A modified oligonucleotide consisting of 12 to 30 linked nucleosides and having a nucleobase sequence comprising a portion of at least 8 contiguous nucleobases complementary to an equal length portion of nucleobases 404 to 463 of SEQ ID NO:

- and wherein the nucleobase sequence of the modified oligonucleotide is at least 90% complementary to SEQ ID NO:
