The polymer of the layer is selected from the group consisting of cellulose and its derivatives; starch and its derivatives; alginates and their derivatives; guars and their derivatives; chitin and its derivatives; and pectin and its derivatives.

A photovoltaic module comprising at least one outer protective layer, an inner layer capable of converting solar radiation into electricity, and a protective layer at the back of the photovoltaic module, wherein said outer protective layer comprises at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of cellulose and its derivatives;
- starch and its derivatives;
- alginates and their derivatives;
- guars and their derivatives;
- chitin and its derivatives;
- and pectin and its derivatives.
