Abstract
The present invention pertains to a gas blender for blending at least two different gases, the gas blender comprising a first gas control valve (10) for supplying a first gas, a second gas control valve (20) for supplying a second gas, a pressure vessel (40) in fluid communication with the first and second gas control valves (10, 20) to receive and store the first and second gases at above atmospheric pressure, and an output gas control valve (50) in fluid communication with an output of the pressure vessel for supplying the blended gas from the pressure vessel.
Claims17
A gas blender for blending at least two different gases, the gas blender comprising
- a first gas control valve for supplying a first gas;
- a second gas control valve for supplying a second gas;
- a pressure vessel in fluid communication with the first and second gas control valves to receive and store the first and second gases at above atmospheric pressure;
- and
- an output gas control valve in fluid communication with an output of the pressure vessel for supplying the blended gas from the pressure vessel.
A method for blending at least two gases, comprising the steps of:
- supplying a first gas via a first gas control valve into a pressure vessel;
- supplying a second gas via a second gas control valve into the pressure vessel;
- controlling the flows of the two gases by controlling the first and second gas control valves to obtain a predetermined blending ratio of the gases in the pressure vessel;
- supplying the blended gas via an output gas control valve situated in fluid communication with the pressure vessel.
A medical device for supplying a gas to a patient via a gas blender comprising:
- a first gas control valve for supplying a first gas;
- a second gas control valve for supplying a second gas;
- a pressure vessel in fluid communication with the first and second gas control valves to receive and store the first and second gases at above atmospheric pressure;
- an output gas control valve in fluid communication with an output of the pressure vessel for supplying the blended gas from the pressure vessel;
- and
- an analyzer for analyzing and/or displaying respiratory parameters of a patient, wherein the respiratory parameters comprise at least one of a respiratory flow value of a patient, a respiratory peak volume of a patient, a respiratory minute volume of a patient and a respiratory frequency of a patient on the basis of the opening status of the gas control valve and/or on the basis of a gas flow measured by at least one flow sensor arranged for sensing the flow of the supplied gas.
