Abstract
A completion system and method adapted for use in wells having long lateral boreholes includes a mast assembly, a pipe handling mechanism, a pipe arm, a pipe tub, a pump/pit combination skid, a rig carrier, and a control system. The mast assembly can extend in a generally vertical direction, e.g., perpendicular to the rig carrier and/or the earth's surface, such that the rig can be placed directly adjacent to a wellbore, and the top drive or a similar drive system can be engaged with and move along the mast while remaining above the wellbore.

A support structure for use with a mobile rig, the support structure comprising:
- an upright body having an upper portion and a lower portion, wherein the lower portion includes a recessed region for accommodating well control equipment, such that the upper portion extends essentially vertical above the lower portion and is aligned with an axis of a wellbore.
A support structure for use with a mobile rig having a base structure in association therewith, the support structure comprising:
- a vertical body having an upper portion and a lower portion;
- a first elongate member extending between the upper portion and a first side of the base structure;
- and
- a second elongate member extending between the upper portion and a second side of the base structure.
A method for positioning a support structure associated with a mobile rig, wherein the method comprises the step of positioning a vertical body of the support structure adjacent to a blowout preventer, a snubbing assembly, or combinations thereof, and wherein a lower portion of the vertical body includes a recessed region sized for accommodating the blowout preventer, the snubbing assembly, or combinations thereof, such that an upper portion of the vertical body extends above and is aligned with an axis of the blowout preventer, the snubbing assembly, or combinations thereof.
A method for securing a support structure associated with a mobile rig having a base structure associated therewith, the method comprising the steps of:
- securing a first elongate member to an upper portion of the support structure and to a first side of the base structure;
- and
- securing a second elongate member to the upper portion and to a second side of the base structure.
