Abstract
A system and a method are provided that may be used to control the temperature of steam being reheated by a moisture separator reheater (MSR). One embodiment provides a system including a steam turbine, a moisture separator reheater coupled to the steam turbine, and a controller programmed to control a temperature of steam leaving the moisture separator reheater based at least in part on sensor feedback. The controller is programmed to facilitate substantially smooth linear temperature ramping.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- a steam turbine;
- a moisture separator reheater coupled to the steam turbine;
- and
- a controller programmed to control a temperature of steam leaving the moisture separator reheater based at least in part on sensor feedback, wherein the controller is programmed to facilitate substantially smooth linear temperature ramping.
A method for controlling a steam valve to facilitate smooth temperature ramping of steam leaving a moisture separator reheater, comprising:
- measuring a temperature of the steam leaving the moisture separator reheater;
- determining a steam valve temperature reference, wherein the steam valve temperature reference is configured to ramp substantially linearly;
- determining a temperature reference setpoint based at least in part on the steam valve temperature reference;
- and
- determining a desired steam valve position based at least in part on the measured temperature of steam and the temperature reference setpoint.
A method for determining a steam valve temperature reference:
- generating a temperature loading model, wherein the temperature loading model describes a linear relationship between a turbine load percentage and a temperature of steam;
- measuring a load percentage of a steam turbine;
- measuring a temperature of a steam leaving a moisture separator reheater;
- comparing the measured load percentage and temperature to the temperature loading model;
- and
- if the measured load percentage and temperature generally match the temperature model, determining a steam valve temperature reference based at least in part on the linear relationship described in the temperature loading model, wherein the steam valve temperature reference ramps substantially linearly.
